Deep Night’s Scherzo gets a new trailer


Ahead of the film’s big release in Japan in September, Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo of Deep Night released a new trailer and key visual, plus new information about the upcoming animated film.

The new trailer was released on Aniplex official YouTube channel, with the key visual shared on the Sword Art Online official Twitter account and movie website.

Although this is a fairly short trailer at just over 30 seconds, it shows new action-packed scenes from the upcoming Sword Art Online Progressive film starring the main characters, Kirito and Asuna.

Along with the trailer, it was revealed that Eir Aoi will be performing the movie’s theme song titled “Shinz®̄” (or Heart).

Eir Aoi, in case you are not familiar, is a Japanese singer well known for singing “Innocence” which is the second opening of Sword Art Online Season 1.

Aoi has also performed other songs for others Sword Art Online projects, including the first opening theme for Sword Art Online II and songs for many ODS video games.

The movie also released a new key visual that highlights Kirito, Asuna, and Argo.

The film stars cast members Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Kirito, Haruka Tomatsu as Asuna, Shiori Izawa as Argo, and Inori Minase as Misumi Tozawa.

Joining them are new cast members Yusuke Kobayashi as Morte and Kaede Hondo as Liten.

The Deep Night Scherzo is the second SAO Progressive movie, sequel to Air of a starless night which was released on October 30, 2021. Although it is technically the third film in the SAO franchise.

The movie is based on the Sword Art Online Progressive light novel series which is an expanded retelling of the Aincrad arc in the original ODS series.

Deep Night Scherzo is set to hit Japanese theaters on September 10, 2022.

Ahead of the film’s large-scale release, an advance screening will be held on August 24, 2022 at Shinjuku Wald 9. This screening will feature Eir Aoi and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka.
